Phaedra Cinema has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Gerard Depardieu’s directorial debut, “The Bridge.”
Depardieu co-directs with Frederic Auburtin and stars opposite Carole Bouquet.
“The Bridge,” set in the 1960s, follows a love affair between a married woman and the man she meets while at a screening of “West Side Story.”
Phaedra has also acquired “Downward Angel,” a film noir saga from first-time director Kevin Lewis.
Phaedra will also handle international sales on “Downward” through its newly formed international sales company, Phaedra Cinema Intl. Outfit is headed by exec VP Roseann Cherenson, who previously handled international sales at Beyond Films.
Deal for “The Bridge” was negotiated between Phaedra president Gregory Hatanaka and Roissy Films’ Raphael Berdugo.
