The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television will bestow Spotlight Awards for outstanding achievement in filmmaking upon nine student directors Thursday at the Directors Guild.
Kudos are a part of the school’s nine-day celebration of student talent, dubbed UCLA Festival 2000, which began Friday.
The winners are Shane Acker, “The Hangnail;” Carl Pfirman, “The Confession;” Amy Ferraris, “Viewing Habits;” Amy Winfrey, “The Bad Plant;” David Ottenhouse, “Late Summer;” Grace Lee, “The Ride Home;” Kerryn Z. Miller, “Dim Bulb;” Jonathan Wald, “In My Secrecy;” and Jose Javier Martinez, “Luz.”
All spotlighted films will screen during the DGA ceremony, which will be co-hosted by UCLA almnus and “Election” helmer Alexander Payne and school’s dean Robert Rosen.
