International sales and distribution outfit Myriad Pictures has acquired overseas distribution rights to the thriller “Double Whammy,” written and directed by Tom DiCillo and starring Denis Leary, Steve Buscemi and Elizabeth Hurley.
Domestic distribution rights are retained by Gold Circle Films, the film production and financing company run by David Kronemyer. Pic is co-produced by In-motion, a publicly traded company on Germany’s Neuer Markt that bought a controlling interest in Myriad Pictures in July.
Currently in post-production, “Double Whammy” concerns a world-weary police detective who fails to stop a fast-food restaurant massacre and the struggle he endures to regain his departmental reputation, public image and self-worth. Luis Guzman (Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming “Traffic”) is also featured in the pic.
DiCillo’s credits include “The Real Blonde,” “Box of Moonlight,” “Living in Oblivion” and “Johnny Suede.”
Myriad’s current slate for worldwide theatrical releases includes the Montecito Pictures Co. thriller “Killing Me Softly,” to be directed by Chen Kaige and starring Heather Graham; “Tangled,” produced by Myriad and Tapestry Films and starring Rachael Leigh Cook; and “Deeply,” starring Lynn Redgrave and Kirsten Dunst.
Myriad also reps worldwide distribution on “Cleopatra’s Second Husband,” starring Radha Mitchell; “Goat on Fire and Smiling Fish,” released domestically by Stratosphere; and the critically acclaimed “The Terrorist,” presented by John Malkovich and released in the U.S. through Phaedra Cinema.
The “Double” deal was negotiated with the film’s producers, Kronemyer and Marcus Viscidi, with Myriad president and founder Kirk D’Amico repping the sales company.
