Demi Moore’s Moving Pictures has hit a home run with “Slugger,” selling the family comedy spec to Miramax Films in a mid-six-figure deal. The script was penned by Steven Gary Banks and Bruce Graham (“Steal This Movie”).
Set in the world of baseball, “Slugger” follows a young boy who is terrible at baseball but whose grandfather served as Babe Ruth’s batboy. When the child inherits the Babe’s bat from his grandfather, the famous ballplayer appears and transforms the boy into a superstar.
Moore inked a one-year, overall production deal for her banner at Miramax last July. Moving Pictures senior veep Andrea Asimow brought the script to Miramax veepee, production, Amy Slotnick.
Graham’s credits also include “Anastasia” and “Dunston Checks in”; this is the first spec sale for independent producer Banks.
The writers are repped by the Gersh Agency and manager Bradley Kaplan.
