“The Matrix” team of sound mixers — including John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff, David Campbell and David Lee — nabbed first prize for outstanding achievement in sound mixing Saturday evening at the Cinema Audio Society’s seventh annual awards banquet.
Ceremony, held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, honors Emmy winners and Oscar nominated sound mixers for their motion picture and television accomplishments.
The TV series nod went to “The Sopranos” mixers Adam Sawelson, Todd Orr, Ron Evans and Matthew Price, while Bob Wright was honored in the Television Variety category for his work on “Ray Charles in Concert.” Best made-for went to “Joan of Arc (Part 2)” mixers Lou Solakofski, Orest Sushko and Urmas Rosin.
Other CAS festivities included a tribute to Buzz Knudson, re-recording mixer and former prexy of Todd-AO Studios. On hand to salute Knudson were Warren Beatty, helmer William Friedkin and emcee John Landis.
