Artisan Entertainment’s Amir Malin has been promoted to co-CEO, joining current CEO Mark A. Curcio as the highest officers of the entertainment conglom.
Ken Schapiro, who had worn the title exec veep and Artisan Pictures chief operating officer, will now assume the title of chief operating officer.
Since taking the prexy reins of Artisan in 1997 after the company’s transformation from Live Entertainment, Malin has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth — both as a film production company and in arenas such as home entertainment, television group, international (including Artisan’s relationship with Summit) and new media.
IPO on track
The company is still on track with respect to its IPO; it is expected to price in early June.
“Amir and I have worked together in creating Artisan, and this announcement is a formal recognition of that work and our partnership,” Curcio said. “From day one, he has demonstrated an incredible knowledge of not only the entertainment industry but the financial world as well.”
Added Curcio: “In addition to Amir, it is imperative to note that Ken Schapiro’s promotion is a true testament to the contributions that he has made to this company since his arrival.”
