Lions Gate Films has acquired worldwide rights to “One,” a romantic comedy that will be directed by Gary Sinyor (“The Bachelor”) and produced by John Davis (“Dr. Dolittle”) and Paul Brooks.
Written by Anya Kochoff-Landis, “One” is the story of a woman whose sportswriter boyfriend dies and is reincarnated as his former nemesis, a temperamental tennis star.
This is the second collaboration between Lions Gate and Brooks, who brought the upcoming “Shadow of the Vampire” to the indie. Brooks served as the executive producer of that film, which was produced by Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films.
Lions Gate will introduce the film to the marketplace at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. Lions Gate production VP Lauren McLaughlin brokered the “One” deal for the company.
Sinyor’s credits also include the 1992 “Leon the Pig Farmer” as well as “Stiff Upper Lips.” He is repped by the William Morris Agency.
Kochoff-Landis is repped by Endeavor.
