TORONTO — Ali Landry has signed on for the title role in the Zide-Perry and Helkon Media production of “Repli-Kate.” Frank Longo will direct the comedy.
Landry will play Kate, a journalist who is accidentally cloned by a scientist. The scientist and his sidekick decide to turn the mistake into Repli-Kate — their idea of the perfect woman, who loves beer, football and frat parties as much as they do.
“Repli-Kate,” which Stuart Gibbs is penning, will be produced by Warren Zide, Craig Perry and Ash Shah, with John Fremes’ Fusion Intl. handling foreign rights. Pic is part of Zide-Perry’s four-pic deal with Helkon, which is expected to produce four titles by the end of next year.
Landry stars with Minnie Driver in Destination Films’ “Beautiful,” which preemed Monday at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival. The pic opens nationwide Sept. 22.
The actress will also appear in a recurring role on this season’s WB drama “Felicity.” The former Miss Louisiana serves as a co-host of the USA Network music show “Farmclub.com.”
She is repped by UTA and her manager Elissa Leeds Fickman of Reel Talent Management.
