Japan goes Gaga for ‘Caravan’

President Films sells rights

Japan’s Gaga has jumped on the “Caravan” bandwagon. Gallic sales and production house President Films, which is handling the Oscar nominated pic, said Japanese buyers concluded a deal after Friday’s screening.

With increased interest in the film thanks to an Oscar nod, President is also fielding offers from the U.S., Latin America and Scandanavia.

The Eric Valli-directed, Jacques Perrin-produced film was shot in Nepal in the Tibetan language and centers on the struggles of a hidden Himalayan village.

“Caravan” has grossed over $10 million in France since its November release. President has also completed sales in Korea, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic on the film.
