The Walt Disney Co. is in talks with Andy Tennant (“Fools Rush In,” “Ever After”) to direct “Sweet Home Alabama” for the studio. The project has not yet been greenlit, however, and the studio is awaiting a new draft of the script from its original writer, C. Jay Cox. Once the draft is reviewed, studio will determine how it will proceed with a Tennant deal — which will likely include his reworking the script further with Cox before the Mouse House flashes the greenlight. “Alabama” will be produced by Original Films’ Neal Moritz, Stokely Chaffin and Charlize Theron, who is also attached to star.
