Universal Pictures has bought the spec script for supernatural thriller “Immortals” from David Kirschner Prods and Aurora Prods. in a pre-emtive bid.

The project, written by first-time scribes Michael Jonascu and Justin Stanley, involves a quartet of 20-something friends who are presented with the opportunity to become immortal through an ancient artifact if they are willing to choose someone to die in their place. Jonascu and Stanley are re-writing the script before it goes out to directors.

Kirschner, whose producer and exec producer credits include “An American Tail,” “Child’s Play,” “The Flintstones” and the upcoming “Titan A.E.,” will produce “Immortals” with William Stuart of Aurora. Corey Sienega and Al Septien will serve as executive producers and Turi Meyer will be a co-producer.

Kirschner, who is based on the Universal lot, is producing the upcoming “Son of Chucky” and “Curious George” for the studio.

Stanley and Jonascu were repped by CAA. Peter Nelson of Nelson, Guggenheim, Felker & Levine negotiated the deal on behalf of Aurora while Kirschner was repped by CAA and Rick Ross at O’Melveny & Meyers.
