Imagine Entertainment’s Suzy Barbieri has been promoted to vice president of motion pictures. Barbieri, given the promotion by Imagine Films co-chair Karen Kehela, had been director of development after beginning at Imagine as a reader and rising through the ranks.
“We’ve had a long tradition of promoting people from within,” said Kehela, who began at Imagine as an intern. “Suzy has grown within the company and has done a great job working with writers, who have been very vocal in their enthusiasm for her.”
Barbieri is working on the Imagine projects “Surf Girls of Maui,” a script by Lizzy Weiss and “Star Time,” a biopic on singing legend James Brown that is being scripted by Steven Baigelman. Barbieri’s also shepherding “Stealing Stanford,” a pic skedded to go before the camera next year with Bruce McCulloch directing and Jason Lee and Tom Green starring.
