Cynthia Mort, a former writer and supervising producer for “Roseanne,” has sold a pitch to Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Prods. and a spec to Millennium Films. The pitch, which Mort will pen and produce with “thirtysomething” actress-turned-helmer Melanie Mayron (“The Baby-Sitters Club,” “Dawson’s Creek”), is titled “Let It Ride” and is based on true story of two women who risk everything as bookmakers for football games. Mort will also produce her contempo love story spec for Brad Weston at Millennium Films, which has the untitled project out to directors and actors. Mort, who also has a blind deal with Big Ticket Television to write a half-hour sitcom, is repped by the Gersh Agency and attorney Alan Hergott at Bloom Hergott Cook Diemer & Klein.
