Tele 5 inks Hyde Park, Wildwood output deals

MADRID — Top-rated Spanish broadcaster Tele 5 has clinched a long-term, first-look deal for Spain on product from U.S. production entities Hyde Park Entertainment and Wildwood Enterprises.

Signed with the Kirch Group, the pic deal puts another brick into place in the slowly building film co-distribution side of Epsilon, the mega film and TV alliance among Germany’s Kirch Group, Italy’s Mediaset and Spain’s Tele 5.

The Kirch Group has taken rights to Hyde Park pics for continental Europe and holds a development and financing deal with Wildwood. Aim of the Epsilon partners is to join forces in order to co-acquire big pics for Europe.

Deals reflect Tele 5’s acquisition strategy of inking long-term deals with producers who will guarantee select but high-profile product. In May, Tele 5 announced an output deal for Spain with Joe Singer Entertainment.

Bagged ‘Vance’

Channeled through Tele 5’s production, distribution and acquisition company Estudios Picasso, the distribution accord with Robert Redford’s Wildwood will bow with Redford’s “The Legend of Bagger Vance,” a period drama about a champion golfer starring Matt Damon and Will Smith.

Fox will handle theatrical distribution in Spain.

Accord with Ashok Amritraj and David Hoberman’s Hyde Park will begin with “Anti-Trust.” Hyde Park’s first production, “Anti-Trust” is a computer hacker thriller helmed by Peter Howitt (“Sliding Doors”) and starring Tim Robbins and Ryan Phillippe.
