Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme (“Silence of the Lambs”) is developing a screenplay adaptation of the novel “Eye in the Door” for USA Films, with scribe Ol Parker penning.
Demme is also considering directing the film. Edward Saxon, Peter Saraf, Neda Armian and Demme will produce through their Clinica Estetico shingle.
“Eye of the Door” will be released through the October Films label of USA.
Written by British author Pat Barker, “Eye in the Door” is the second book in a trilogy of World War I-set novels. His other books are “Regeneration” and “The Ghost.” The latter won the Booker Prize.
“Eye” is a psychological thriller set in London revolving around a soldier who returns to civilian life but is assigned to the internal espionage division of the British army. The soldier becomes embroiled in intrigues that ultimately put him under investigation.
Clinica Estetico has a full slate of films in development at USA, including “Forest Hills Bob,” to be written and directed by Robert Downey Sr. and executive produced by Paul Thomas Anderson; “Kiss the Bride,” a comedy that Bob Balaban will direct from a script by Lynn Grossman; and “Johnny Colorado,” for Adam Bernstein to direct from a script by T. Sean Shannon and Brady Harris.
Parker, who recently completed filming “It Was an Accident,” was repped the William Morris Agency; USA Films was repped by senior veep of business affairs Howard Meyers.
