The British Academy of Film & Television Arts will hold Los Angeles preems of eight British films, including “Beautiful People,” a 1999 Cannes Film Fest winner helmed by Jasmin Dizdar.
BAFTA’s screening series, highlighted by personal appearances by several of the pics’ directors, will kick off today with a showing of “The Big Tease” attended by its scribe, BAFTA scholarship recipient Sacha Gervasi.
The series runs through March 8 at the Writers Guild of America and the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
‘Following’ the schedule
In addition to the Feb. 28 showing of “Beautiful People” (named best film in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section), other featured films include “The Trench,” to be followed by a question and answer period with helmer William Boyd, and “Following,” with director Christopher Nolan headlining.
Rounding out the group are David Yates’ “The Tichborne Claimant,” Damien O’Donnell’s “East Is East,” Justin Kerrigan’s “Human Traffic” and Lynne Ramsay’s “Ratcatcher.”
