Alcon Pictures has purchased the spec script “The Baker’s Son,” penned by Bart Baker and to be produced by Mattia Di Castelbesozzo, who also recently set up or optioned several other projects.
If it gets made, project will be distributed by Warner Bros., where Alcon has its deal. Kathryn Takis and Rene Haynes will co-produce. Alcon VP of development Steven Wagner brought the project into the shingle.
Script is a drama revolving around a swimmer forced to confront the demons that haunt his family.
Di Castelbesozzo also has set up Sidney Lee and Myrica Taylor’s “Route 52” with David Permut’s Permut Presentations. Rod Hardy (“Buffalo Girls”) will direct.
Di Castelbesozzo has optioned “Miss Happy Valley,” penned by Baker, Brad Novicoff (“Titan A.E.”) and Stefanie Novik, and the Selwyn Jepson suspense book “The Angry Millionaire.”
Di Castelbesozzo is repped by Leslie Abell of Myman, Abell, Fineman, Greenspan & Light; Baker’s pact was negotiated by Mitch Smelkinson at Stone, Meyer and Genow. Scott Edel of Kleinberg, Lopez, Lange, Brisbin and Cuddy negotiated Alcon’s deal.
Hardy is repped by Endeavor.
