Rules for the 73rd annual Academy Awards, along with submission deadlines, were mailed Thursday to Academy members.
Entry forms in the docu category must be received by Oct. 2; the deadline for receipt of the actual film print and proof of qualifying exhibition is Nov. 1. (Oct. 31 is the last date for a documentary film to screen in order to qualify.)
The final date to receive entry forms and supporting documents for all foreign-lingo works is Nov. 1. The Acad must receive all prints by Nov. 15. To qualify, films must have screened by Oct. 31 in the country of submission.
Deadline for all short film categories is Nov. 1, and all film prints and proof of qualifying exhibitions or awards must be received by Nov. 30, which is also the date by which films must have screened to qualify.
Music submissions must be made no later than 60 days after the qualifying L.A. opening, or Dec. 1, whichever comes first.
In other categories, the deadline for submission of Official Screen Credits forms to the Academy is 60 days after the qualifying L.A. release opening, or Dec. 1, whichever comes first. Form must be filed in order for a feature film to be considered.
Noms will be announced at 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 13. The Oscar kudocast will be held March 25 at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium.
