HOLLYWOOD — Kenneth Branagh’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” will open the third annual Newport Intl. Film Festival on June 6 in Newport, R.I.
This will be the East Coast premiere for the Miramax film, which stars Branagh, Alicia Silverstone, Alessandro Nivola, Nathan Lane and Matthew Lillard.
The 75 screenings planned over the six days at the festival will include a variety of features, documentaries, shorts and classics from 12 countries in addition to the United States.
“We were really impressed by the divergence of style in our pool of films,” said fest programming director Maude Chilton.
The closing-night film will be Fine Line’s “The Five Senses,” the American feature film debut of Canadian writer-director Jeremy Podeswa that stars Mary-Louise Parker, Gabrielle Rose, Philippe Volter and Marco Leonardi.
