Animation house Will Vinton Studios (“The PJs”) has pacted with Netcaster Z.com and will bow its first Web program, “Mr. Resistor,” on Wednesday.
“We are very happy to have ‘Mr. Resistor’ on Z.com,” said Will Vinton Studios’ CEO Tom Turpin. “It’s good to be able to display an original concept that doesn’t need to fit a comedy half-hour format or cater to the tastes of 20 million-person audience.”
“Mr. Resistor” was created and directed by Mark Gustafson, two-time Emmy award winner and supervising director for the WB’s “The PJs.” The Will Vinton is repped by William Morris.
“Mr. Resistor” will be one of six original programs available on Z.com, which launched earlier this month.
Other programming includes “Smaller World” by animator Corky Quackenbush (“Mad TV”) and “Monsters in My Tummy” by Roman Dirge.
Dirge’s underground comic book “Lenore” was purchased by Sony Family Entertainment and has been slated to be made into a full-length animated feature scripted by Caroline Thompson and Larry Wilson, writers on “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Edward Scissorhands” and “The Addams Family.”
Z.com was formed through a partnership between idealab!, Basic Entertainment, 3 Arts Entertainment, Maverick Records and film producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
