Music Netcaster Soundbreak.com has tapped software developer Bill Shinbrot as chief technical officer.
Shinbrot will be responsible for a gamut of technological duties, from maintaining the Web site to bolstering the company’s proprietary software for Netcasting music and live video.
“I think the two spheres (of software and the Internet) kind of merge at the point when you’re charged with creating something cutting edge,” Shinbrot said.
Previous to joining Soundbreak.com, Shinbrot founded e-mail software developer Blackacre Software. He also acted as a consultant for Steven Spielberg’s Visual History Foundation.
“Technology development is pivotal to our success in the competitive online entertainment space,” said Soundbreak prexy and CEO Lisa Crane. “Bill’s dual background in technology and sound recording gives him an edge in developing and adapting our Web site operations, and a particularly keen understanding of how to integrate and deliver our entertainment content with new media technology.”
West Hollywood-based Soundbreak launched in February and has “digital jocks” that Netcast music to users via streaming audio and video. The company came out of the Acacia Research Corp.’s incubator, which is still a majority owner of the company.
