News Corp. to fund Indian media plans

$225 mil to be invested in media-convergence projects

NEW DELHI — Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. has inked an agreement with the government of the Indian state of Karnataka to invest $225 million in media-convergence projects.

The deal was finalized June 6 at the global investors meeting in Bangalore, the capital and tech hub of the southern state of Karnataka.

The proposed convergence center will create multimedia content for broadband use by News Corp. Lalit Ahuja is CEO of News Corp.’s India convergence operations.
