Walt Disney’s Internet Group has struck a deal to set up a Disney subscriber site on the Internet cell phone service from leading Japanese mobile telecom carrier NTT Docomo.
Docomo’s Internet phone service, called i-mode, is the No. 1 access point to the ‘Net in Japan. Subscribers will be able to receive daily Disney songs, games and characters via the service. Disney will increase its offerings in the fall and is gearing up for next year, when an increase in i-mode’s transmission speed will allow for full video streaming over a cell phone connection.
