CartoonNet, ‘Katz’ co. pact for Web shorts

Snyder to produce animated fare for 'Premiere' series

Tom Snyder Prods., home to the recently defunct animated series “Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist” and Saturday morning kids’ show “Science Court,” announced a deal Thursday with CartoonNetwork.com to produce three animated shorts expressly for the Web.

The two-minute shorts will be among 50 animated pieces to be run over the rest of the year as part of the Cartoon Network’s “Web Premiere Toons” series. The shorts will be available for streaming on demand at CartoonNetwork.com, and viewers can rate each piece as they watch.

Snyder’s shorts include “Switcheroo,” about a child living out his daydreams; “Overdue,” about an overzealous librarian; and “Let’s Have Fun,” about a children’s TV show host with no patience for kids.

Deal follows a similar arrangement with Macromedia’s Shockwave.com, announced last March, under which Snyder will be releasing three series of animated shorts over the course of the summer.
