Argentina adds cablers

ElGourmet.com, CineClick launch Saturday

BUENOS AIRES — Two new Argentine cable channels will launch Saturday, providing a growing outlet for local shows.

Pramer, the local programming arm of Liberty Media, has commissioned leading indie producer Promofilm to produce ElGourmet.com, a channel devoted to food and drink (with an associated Web site that gives it its name). The channel will feature about 75% local programming and will be directed at higher-income over-25s, according to execs.

It will broadcast 68 hours weekly during early evening and nighttime, and will be carried by Cablevision and smaller rival Telecentro.

This will be Promofilm’s second cable venture after its kids channel Magic Kids.

Multicanal hopes for similar success with a new 24-hour channel, CineClick. The service will air initially in the greater Buenos Aires area, relying heavily on films to which the MSO has acquired rights.
