Multimedia software maker Packet Video on Tuesday said it has signed deals to deliver the wares of 35 media and online content companies on a trial basis to wireless products like handhelds and cell phones, via Packet’s streaming technology.
The announcement came on the second day of the StreamingMedia East conference in Gotham.
Packet’s partners include Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros., Web-based media such as ABCNews.com, FoxSports.com, Atom Films and Icebox.com, as well as music labels Columbia Records and Hollywood Records.
Packet will repackage content from these companies for smaller screens and use its MPEG-4 software to deliver it to devices like Hewlett-Packard’s Jornada, Compaq Computer’s iPAQ and Casio’s Cassiopeia.
The companies will offer short films, movie trailers, musicvideos and sports highlights on demand.
