HONG KONG — Two Golden Harvest and Centro Digital Pictures co-productions — the action-fantasy blockbusters “The StormRiders” and “A Man Called Hero” — will be released on video in the U.S. later this year.
Centro senior exec Gordon Cheung told Daily Variety that approval on the distribution deal, being arranged through Tribe Enterprises in Australia, is expected within two months. Both pics will be released under the Golden Harvest banner.
“We’ve got to deliver ‘StormRiders’ now for English dubbing so we can distribute the picture to all territories outside Asia including France, Germany, the U.K. and Australia,” said the former head of distribution at Golden Harvest.
Centro, a specialist in quality animation and special effects, is very much responsible for the box office success of the two Hong Kong comic book-based features.
Cheung is one of the three senior execs who joined Centro’s top ranks this month. The others are Francis Choi, who headed Inmarsat’s China operations and graphic design, and advertising veteran Stanley Wong.
