Harvey Entertainment division Sunland Studios has acquired the North American video and DVD rights to the Filmsmith and Blump’s Intl. Film mockumentary “Welcome to Hollywood,” directed by Tony Markes and Adam Rifkin (“Detroit Rock City”).
In conjunction with a video release through Sunland, which is still known overseas by its former incarnation as PM Entertainment, the producers are planning a limited theatrical release for the film.
“Hollywood” stars Markes as Nick Decker, whose every move is tracked amid his meteoric rise from complete unknown to Hollywood superstar, complete with Cannes Film Festival publicity stunts and a controversial relationship with an actress/supermodel (Angie Everhart).
The film also includes cameos from Mel Gibson, Sandra Bullock and John Travolta, who comment on what it means to be a star.
Zachary Matz and Markes produced the film, with Steven Ricci serving as co-producer and Bradford Schlei, Jim Lampley and Bree Walker serving as executive producers.
Matz represented the filmmakers, with senior veep Tom Sykes repping Sunland.
