Gordon Steel’s the Steel Co. has pacted with German licensing outfit VCL Film Medien to serve as VCL’s strategic advisor.
Steel and his VP, Patrick Aluise, will advise VCL on co-financing, split-rights deals, equity investment opportunities and other elements of the company’s long-term strategy.
VCL, which went public on Germany’s primary DAX market in 1999, has a deal with Woody Allen in conjunction with DreamWorks to finance his next three films. VCL has also agreed to co-produce 10 features for Francis Ford Coppola over the next three years, with domestic distribution handled by MGM.
The Steel Co. has repped film distribs and other media companies on a worldwide basis for nearly 20 years. Steel Co. is also affiliated with investment bank Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin, which helps raise equity and debt financing.
