Sony issues bonds to offset vidgame costs

Sony will issue bonds starting this week to offset the costs of launching its vidgame console, the PlayStation 2. The company hopes to raise $1.4 billion through investors who buy the five-year bond. After a huge bow in Japan this spring, the PlayStation 2 is skedded to be released in the U.S. in October. Almost 40% of Sony’s revenue comes from the gaming division.
