HOLLYWOOD — Whitney Cookson, a 10-year Disney vet, has been promoted to veep of print advertising for Buena Vista Pictures marketing.
In her new role, Cookson will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of print production related to one-sheets, outdoor and newspaper advertising for motion pictures released under the Disney, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners. She will also supervise production of all in-theater materials, including standees and banners.
Cookson will report to Fred Tio, senior veep of marketing, and John Sabel, veep of creative print services.
She began her association with Disney in 1990, when she joined Buena Vista Pictures marketing as creative print production coordinator. Cookson was later promoted to manager and director in that division.
Among the print campaigns she helped coordinate are the 1993 re-release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” the 1995 launch of Disney/Pixar’s “Toy Story” and 1998’s “Armageddon.”
