Caplain tapped to fill newly created COO post

MIAMI — Latino sports net Pan-American Sports Network has shifted chief financial officer Jean-Marie Caplain to the newly created No. 2 post of chief operating officer.

Caplain was in top financial job just one year, after joining PSN from Eurosales, a subsid of the pan-Euro sports net Eurosport, where he was chief financial officer and logistic director. He reports to PSN CEO and prexy Jacques Kremer.

Rapid growth and plans to launch a U.S. signal later this year prompted the creation of the chief operating officer position, PSN said. Panregional web, which bowed in February, now reaches 8 million subs throughout Latin America and PSN projects it will reach 9.5 million by year’s end.

The net also upped four senior staffers: Sebastian Dominguez has been promoted to exec VP of broadcasting from chief broadcasting officer, and Alexander Johnson has been upped to senior VP of production and named to the newly created position of general manager, PSN USA. Johnson will head up the launch of the U.S. channel.

Wilma Maciel has been promoted to senior VP of programming, Patricio Montalbetti to veepee of production.

The Latino sports net separately announced a deal with the NBA to broadcast regular season and playoff games live in Latin America as part of a new multiyear agreement.
