IFilm cuts staff after acquisitions

Nine get pink slips in administrative, business development sectors

IFilm laid off nine employees last week, citing employee redundancy after the Internet company acquired six other companies in recent months.

The layoffs came in the administrative and business development divisions. IFilm now has 130 employees, 75 of whom were brought over with the new acquisitions, which include TV Tracker, Scriptshark and the Hollywood Creative Directory.

“We did this in an effort to run a smart, strategic business,” spokeswoman Melissa Zukerman said. “We’re running a lean organization.”
