Fox Family Worldwide ad sales power ranger Rick Sirvaitis has ankled the company to join New York-based Phase 2 Media as president/COO.
Sirvaitis is the second major Fox Family exec to leave in the past month; Rich Cronin abruptly resigned in late May after less than two years as president and CEO.
Sirvaitis will be replaced by Barbara Bekkedahl, who takes over day-to-day operations as executive vice president of ad sales, and John Carrozza, who will handle direct response and paid programming sales, traffic and commercial clearances.
During the transition, Sirvaitis will also continue to consult with the Fox Family sales team.
“Barbara and John are highly respected both inside and outside the company,” said Fox Family CEO Haim Saban. “Their talents and Rick’s continued involvement will ensure that we will not miss a beat as we make these adjustments in the structure of our ad sales team.”
Bekkedahl has overseen all New York sales for Fox Family Worldwide since February and most recently served as senior veepee of sales; Carrozza has been exec vice president of sales planning since last month.
Bekkedahl joined the company in 1995 as New York sales manager; before that she held posts at Comedy Central and MTV Networks. Carrozza has been with Fox Family and its precursor since 1994; his resume also includes a long stint at ABC.
“John and I intend to build on the strong foundation of service and integrity that Rick built here over the years,” Bekkedahl said.
Sirvaitis had served as president of Fox Family Advertising Sales since October 1998, overseeing both the Fox Family cable channel and broadcast’s Fox Kids Network. Sirvaitis segued to Fox Family from the channel’s previous owner, International Family Entertainment. He joined IFE Advertiser Sales (later renamed MTM Advertiser Sales) as president in 1995. The exec held down sales posts at Turner Broadcasting before that.
Most recently, Sirvaitis launched the new Fox Kids Web Net, an Internet sales and marketing group that will represent kid and tween-targeted owned-and-operated properties.
