New Wave Entertainment has tapped Peter Adee as a partner, joining Allen P. Haines, Paul Apel and Alan Baral in the Burbank-based creative service company. His new duties include working in all areas of business development with a focus on audio/visual entertainment advertising.

Most recently, Adee was co-prexy at Creative Domain. He was also senior VP of creative services with the Walt Disney Co. and served a stint on the marketing team at DreamWorks.

Geoffrey Wells has been named VP of information technology for the ABC Broadcasting Group.

In his new post, Wells will oversee all information systems for the ABC Broadcasting Group which includes planning and managing tech systems and coordinating information technology strategies.

Wells joined Walt Disney in 1989 as senior manager of information services for Buena Vista Television.

Freelance publicist Mira Tweti has joined integrated marketing agency Kaiser McEuren, as VP of public relations. Agency provides online and offline marketing solutions.

Tweti, has done publicity work on more than 75 feature film campaigns. She also worked as director of international publicity at Turner Pictures Worldwide and Turner Pictures.

Tweti has also written for the L.A. Weekly and Redbook, and has been published by St. Martin’s Press.

Starz Encore Group has upped Que Spaulding to prexy of distribution.

Spaulding’s responsibilities will expand in the areas of revenue generation and growth of the company’s subscriber pay units, which number 60 million.

The former senior VP of sales and affiliate marketing will also continue to oversee sales and marketing for Starz’s digital and analog multi-channel packages out of the company’s Englewood, Colo., headquarters.

Ava DuVernay, former mPRm public relations senior exec, has gone solo with the formation of the DuVernay Agency.

The boutique PR firm will handle film, television, homevideo and corporate publicity campaigns, specializing in projects with urban themes and ethnic subject matter. DuVernay’s roster includes CBS and Columbia TriStar Television, as well as individual film projects from Miramax and Trimark.

Attorney Henry Holmes has become a name partner at the Beverly Hills firm Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman & Silverman, where he has been a partner for six years. The firm’s new name will be Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman, Silverman & Holmes.

Holmes represents a wide range of clients in the entertainment and sport industries, including heavyweight fighter George Foreman.

Holmes also represents Chuck Norris and Norris Bros. Entertainment, Jon Peters, DirecTV, Robert Evans and the Evans Co. Magic Johnson Prods., Hulk Hogan, Handmade Films, Christina Applegate, screenwriters Don Jacoby and Dan O’Bannon and director Alfonso Cuaron and Tequila Films.

John Schreiber and Mark Krantz have been tapped to produce the New York Friars Club’s annual roasts. They are partners in the John Schreiber Group, a Gotham-based entertainment firm. The Group exec produced “The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize.”

Discovery Kids has tapped Laura Sullivan, VP, marketing; Bilai Joa Silar, director of programming and operations and Travis Pomposello, director of on-air promotion.

Sullivan will be responsible for creating and implementing a broad based marketing strategy. Silar will now be in charge of the programming, scheduling and the operation areas. Pomposello will now handle the on-air look of Discovery Kids as well as the look of the brand off-air.

Judy Guarino has been upped to senior VP, international licensing for the Jim Henson Co. She will continue to manage all Jim Henson brands globally and introduce new entertainment properties. Before joining the Jim Henson Company in 1992, Guarino served as senior merchandise coordinator for Gant.

EnterTech Media Group has tapped Gregory L. Stuart exec veep, worldwide productions and distribution.

Stuart is responsible for overseeing all the production and international distribution activities for the company as well as for acquiring feature films in various stages of development.

Previously, Stuart worked for Cineville Intl., where he served as exec VP, worldwide production and distribution.

Robert Saltmarsh has been named chief financial officer; Jason Rubinstein tapped veep of streaming media; Scott Fey named VP of sales; Scott Maddux tapped as director of product development and Marvin Sanders named as director of artist relations.

Fox Family Channel named Bo LaMotte, regional veep, Atlanta.

LaMotte will oversee the Southeast Region’s affiliate sales and national account distribution efforts for both Fox Family channel and the new digital networks boyzChannel and girlzChannel.

Belo upped Marian Spitzberg to senior veep, human resources. She will work closely with Robert W. Decherd, Belo’s chairman, prexy and chief exec officer, and members of the company’s management committee. Spitzberg joined Belo as assistant general counsel in 1992 and was most recently the company’s veep, deputy counsel and secretary.

Brian Bracco was tapped group news exec for Hearst-Argyle Television. He will work with TV stations’ news departments to strengthen their competitive position in their respective markets. Previously Bracco was news director of WTVN-TV, Columbus, Ohio, and before that of WBRC-TV, Birmingham, Ala.

Marla Messing, 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup prexy and CEO, was tapped veep of partner marketing for Broadband Sports. “Marla is an amazing woman who helped build Women’s World Cup soccer into an extraordinary business,” stated CEO Richard Nanula.

Tanya Brown has been upped to creative director, urban, for Famous Music. Brown joined Famous Music in 1998 as a creative assistant. Prior to this, she was as A&R assistant at Def Jam Records and at Uptown/MCA.

James Kraus has been upped to the newly created post of exec VP and general sales manager of domestic TV, at Carsey-Werner. He will oversee domestic sales operations, with all sales offices and personnel reporting directly to him. He joined the company last year as senior VP and regional sales manager after a long stint at RCA/Universal TV. Kraus will remain based in Gotham.

Al Fong has been upped to director of advanced broadcast technologies for Tribune Broadcasting.

Fong will play an instrumental role in the launch of the Zap2It on-air products. He will be responsible for technical development of new technologies for products to meet the needs of cable operators, cable programmers, digital broadcasters, consumers and emerging markets.

Prior to joining Tribune, Fong spent five years as director of operations and engineering at Time Warner.

Capitol Records has tapped Dave Sholin as VP of pop promotion. Sholin will be part of Capitol’s overall radio game plan including scheduling of releases, single selection and format strategy.

Sholin began his career as an on-air personality at KFRC San Francisco, where he was part of the programming team that led KFRC to “Station of the Year” for seven consecutive years.

John Bryan has been upped to senior veep, general sales manager, east at Buena Vista Television. Bryan previously served as a senior VP of sales, southeast. Based in New York he will oversee the sales force in the New York and Atlanta regional offices and supervise all East Coast syndication and cable sales.
