Wolf fathers Fox TV deal

Comic inks deal for single-dad skein

Comic Josh Wolf has inked an overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television to develop a half-hour comedy based upon his real-life experience as a twentysomething single dad.

Wolf is creating the potential skein with former “Mad About You” exec producer and “Two Guys and a Girl” co-creator Danny Jacobson and “Built to Last” co-creator Greg Garcia. Both will serve as exec producers of any pilot or series that result from Wolf’s deal.

The basic blueprint for the project will be Wolf’s one-man show “SWM w/ Children Seeking …,” which explores how the comic ended up as a single dad under 30 trying to raise his own child as well as his ex-girlfriend’s two kids. According to his reps, Wolf — who is the first cousin of “Party of Five” star Scott Wolf — has been living in a two-bedroom apartment with three kids and his brother for the past four years.

Jacobson and Garcia are hoping to create a family comedy with the same feel as past blue-collar domestic laffers such as “Roseanne” and “Home Improvement.” Jacobson was a producer on “Roseanne” during the ABC comedy’s early seasons, and Garcia has been a consultant on the Fox ani comedy “Family Guy” and served as co-exec producer of the Jon Cryer starrer “Getting Personal.”

Wolf is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Jared Levine.
