Von Trier’s TV series sizzles

Skein gets second season

AMSTERDAM — Danish director Lars Von Trier’s hot TV romance series “Morton Korch” — the latest weapon in national commercial channel TV2 Denmark’s fight to keep audience and advertising share — will launch its second season on Jan. 8.

“Morton Korch” brought in average audience shares of as high as 58% in its first 13 episodes and TV2, faced with stiff competition from existing and soon-to-be-launched channels in Denmark, is hoping a second season will see a repeat performance.

Based on the romance stories of the prolific Danish writer of the same name, the series is the brainchild of Von Trier, who serves as executive producer on the program done by his production company Zentropa.

The steamy romance saga drew ratings of as high as 23 and an average of more than 1.1 million viewers per episode in Denmark, among a population of some 5 million, during its first season which began last February.
