Thirteen cooking up ‘Egg’

12-part series to profile artists, event database will be online

Thirteen/WNET New York will hatch “Egg,” a 12-part arts series that will profile innovative artists and their work via cinema verite style.

Jeff Folmsbee, who exec produced Thirteen’s “City Arts” series, will exec produce the skein, which will premiere in January on public television stations nationwide.

“‘Egg’ is not for eggheads,” said Folmsbee. “By looking at the arts through personal, provocative and emotional stories, we want to show people that the arts are for everyone.” Each weekly episode will take on a theme — such as the body, love or money–and explore it through the arts.

“Egg” will also have a Web nest, Egg Online, which will feature a database of arts resources and events throughout the U.S.
