Comedian Hal Sparks has been tapped the new host of the E! cabler staple “Talk Soup.”

Sparks will sign on July 5, following the July 2 swan song seg of John Henson, who is exiting the nightly talkshow clipfest for a development deal with ABC.

Sparks takes up the “Talk Soup” ladle after working the comedy club circuit for the past few years. His TV appearances include segs of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and “Nightstand.”

The tyro comic is the third host to step in front of “Talk Soup’s” green screen since the show bowed in 1991. Greg Kinnear, who has since graduated to film roles, held the job until 1994, when Henson signed on.
