Rhea Perlman and “Boy Meets World’s” Will Friedle and Matt Lawrence have signed to star in “H-E-Double Hockey Sticks,” an ABC adaptation of Lucas Foss’ 1965 opera “Griffelkin.”

Telepic, exec produced by George Zaloom for Walt Disney TV, is slated to air next season as part of ABC’s “Wonderful World of Disney” family movie showcase. “Cheers” alum Perlman plays the devil, aka “Mrs. B,” who heads the Beelzebub Vocational Institute.

Friedle stars as Griffelkin, a slacker apprentice devil who is ordered to procure the soul of a hot-shot hockey star (Lawrence). But in fact, the devil-in-training begins to question his mission once he’s transported back to the land of the living.

Friedle has logged six seasons on the Disney/ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World,” while Lawrence is wrapping up his second season on the show.

“Hockey Sticks” began lensing last week in Vancouver, with Randy Miller helming. Script was penned by David Kukoff and Matt Roshkow.
