NEW YORK — MTV greenlit four musicvideo shows to premiere on its morning lineup later this spring, announced Brian Graden, executive VP, programming, MTV.
The four series will make up MTV’s new 9:30 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday block beginning June 1.
The music cabler’s morning lineup will consist of “Spankin’ New,” a video-based show featuring the newest releases; “The Hot Spot,” a celebrity-hosted series mixing videos and pop culture news; “The Beat Suite,” a hip hop show featuring harder-edged videos; and “Dance Planet,” a half-hour dance club program from five locations around the globe.
Graden also announced that four music shows in development have been slated to premiere this fall.
Each episode of “Master Works” will feature a top recording artist performing the entire album of the artist who has most influenced them.
Other new music shows for the fall include “Hip Hop Nation,” “Head Trip” and “Web Riot.”
Pilots for two additional programs, “Diary” and “Phenomenon” (working title), will be completed this month.
