Littlefield can as laffer ‘Can’t’ greenlit by NBC

'Daddy' scribe pens pilot

The Littlefield Co. has scored its first production greenlight, securing a pilot order from NBC for “Those Who Can’t,” a half-hour comedy created by “Big Daddy” scribe Steve Franks.

Franks wrote the pilot seg and will exec produce the skein, which is being produced in association with NBC Studios. The pilot, which will shoot by mid-January, is under consideration for a possible midseason bow.

The Littlefield Co., formed last January by former NBC Entertainment prexy Warren Littlefield, sold the pilot to NBC under the terms of Littlefield’s first-look deal with the Peacock web.

“Those Who Can’t” revolves around a twentysomething man whose decision to start acting more responsibly leads to a job as a substitute teacher. Skein will focus on his social interactions with both students and adults at school, as well as his relationships with his father and brother.

The Littlefield Co. inked a multiscript deal with Franks earlier this year, beating out several other interested studios.

“Steve represents exactly the kind of talent we want to be in business with,” Littlefield said. “He’s smart, funny and highly motivated.”

Franks is repped by Innovative and the management firm of Somers/ Titlebaum.
