Kelly Lange is returning to the local TV scene next week as a special correspondent for KCBS’ new femme-focused 4 p.m. newscast, “Women 2 Women News.”

Lange left KNBC last December after a 23-year run as an anchor/reporter with the NBC O&O. At KCBS, she’ll be contributing longer stories to the 4 p.m. report, which bows Monday.

KCBS also has re-hired showbiz reporter David Sheehan to do celeb interviews and pic reviews for the 4 p.m. report, as well as contributing to the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

The “Women 2 Women” half-hour is an effort to counterprogram the 4 p.m. newscasts on KNBC and KABC. The KCBS show, anchored by Ann Martin and Catherine Anaya, will be feature-driven, focusing on news-you-can-use topics and human interest stories.

KCBS is hoping “Women 2 Women” will reverse its declining fortunes in the afternoon news race by drawing a solid femme aud with the help of its “Price is Right” lead-in, which is moving to 3 p.m. from 10 a.m. as of Monday.
