India lifts ban on Pakistan TV

Blackout no longer relevant, official sez

NEW DELHI — The Indian Ministry for Information and Broadcasting has lifted a ban on Pakistan TV in India.

The government had banned the channel during the conflict between India and Pakistan from May to August.

The new minister for information and broadcasting, Arun Jaitley, declared that the restriction was no longer relevant.

According to the Indian government, PTV is continuing with anti-India propaganda. Hence, in response, the minister suggested strengthening India’s pubcaster Doordarshan.

The minister also said the government has banned the Moscow-based satellite TV channel TB6, which has been beaming latenight pornographic movies into India.
