Paramount Domestic Television’s “Dr. Laura” has been cleared in 80 percent of the country, including the CBS-owned stations in New York and Chicago.
The hour-long strip has picked up outlets in 120 markets, including 24 of nation’s the top 25 markets. New stations announced Wednesday include WCBS New York, WBBM Chicago, KYW Philadelphia and KTVT Dallas, all owned by CBS.
Other stations new to the list include Scripps-Howard’s ABC affil WMAR Baltimore and McKinnon Broadcasting independent KUSI San Diego.
Broadcast groups committing to “Dr. Laura” also include Post-Newsweek, Hearst-Argyle, Cox, LIN, Belo, Fox and Gannett. The strip had previously been cleared in Los Angeles, San Francisco and other markets.
“Dr. Laura,” hosted by radio pop psychology guru Dr. Laura Schlessinger, is set for a September 2000 launch.
