DreamWorks Television has inked a multiyear first-look deal with Evolution Entertainment, the fledgling management and production shop headed by feature producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules.
Deal reps the continued encroachment of feature talent into the TV world as well as DreamWorks’ desire to ink deals with non-traditional talent.
Evolution reps a number of up and coming writers, helmers and thesps, including Shannon Elizabeth (“American Pie”), Josh Reims (“Felicity”) and China Chow (“The Big Hit”). Company’s client roster also includes more established players like Charlie Sheen, Farrah Fawcett, Rebecca De Mornay, Rosanna Arquette and Paula Abdul.
DreamWorks and Evolution worked together last on “Sugar Hill,” a Sheen pilot in development at ABC last season. Evolution served as an exec consultant on the pilot, which is now being reworked at NBC with Sheen or Evolution’s involvement.
Koules said he looked forward to expanding Evolution’s domain beyond the feature world with DreamWorks as a partner.
“We’re very excited about working with them,” he said, adding that Evolution chose to partner with DreamWorks because “we’re just really comfortable” with the execs at the company.
