Tower ‘Powers’ up DVD, vid

Look-alikes fill release party

Tower Records in West Hollywood provided the psychedelic setting for last week’s fete celebrating the video and DVD release of New Line Home Video’s “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”

Pic’s Vern Troyer and Mindy Sterling turned up for the Tuesday event, and attendees were treated to live music from Maverick Records recording group the Solar Twins.

Although there was no sign of star Mike Myers, the spirit of Austin Powers was everywhere: Powers look-alikes circulated through the crowd, and partygoers lined up for souvenir photos with a blue-screen Austin.

Holding court at a table in the center of it all, Troyer said: “I just feel so privileged to be a part of all of this. It was so great working with Jay Roach (the film’s director) and Mike. They’re such geniuses they made it easy for the rest of us to look good.” About a third installment, Troyer said: “There are rumors … and if that happens, I’ll be there!”
