After years of taking on fictional foes like Flattop, Mumbles and Big Boy Caprice, Dick Tracy is ready for the real thing.
Starting with this Sunday’s installment, the Dick Tracy comic strip will profile each of the FBI’s “10 Most-Wanted Fugitives.” Over the next few months, Sunday editions of the 68-year-old comic will feature artist-renderings and short descriptions of the nation’s top 10 outlaws.
“Dick Tracy is circulated in over 100 papers, and we know they have a lot of readers,” said Neal Schiff, an FBI spokesman. “We’re always looking for a new outlet to bring attention to the ‘most wanted’ program.”
The high-tech detective’s crime-fighting exploits have been seen on comics pages since his 1931 creation by Chester Gould and also spawned a 1990 film starring Warren Beatty.
