Dean O’Brien

Dean O’Brien, a veteran producer and production manager, died Oct. 2 at USC University Hospital in Los Angeles due to complications from a lung transplant. He was 67.

A Los Angeles native, O’Brien was a graduate of Beverly Hills High School and the USC. He began his career producing TV commercials, and went on to form his own production company, producing feature films and television programs.

As a co-producer and unit production manager, his feature credits include “Thelma and Louise,” “Steel Magnolias,” “Vice Versa” and “Buddy.”

Among the TV shows he produced were “V: The Series,” “V: The Final Chapter,” “Out on a Limb” and “Mystic Warrior.”

O’Brien is survived by his wife, two daughters, three grandchildren and his sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in O’Brien’s name to USC University Hospital, Cardio-Thoracic Lung Transplant Program, 1510 San Pablo St., Suite 619, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
