Elektra Entertainment Group has upped music industry promotion vet Greg Thompson to exec veep and general manager. The ascension gives Thompson oversight for the day-to-day operation of Elektra while contributing to its record promotion efforts.
Elektra chairman Sylvia Rhone credits Thompson’s “grasp of our overall structure, coupled with his outstanding motivational abilities and acute sensitivity toward artists” as key factors for the new gig.
Thompson, who led the record promotion efforts for Elektra as its senior veep, will report to Rhone.
“This is a tremendous honor and a huge vote of confidence from Sylvia,” said Thompson.
Elektra, best known as home to Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott and Metallica, is also launching Staind through the label’s joint-venture deal with Flip Records’ chief Jordan Schur.
